Description  Longitudinal data allow researchers to be able to better understand the factors behind events or problems. Given the importance of longitudinal data in research, it was important to find a way to extend the usefulness of Statistics Canada’s longitudinal data for research purposes

Purpose  The purpose of this linkage was to create a linked dataset between LSIC and IMDB administrative database
Scope  The target population for the survey consists of immigrants who meet all of the following criteria: - arrived in Canada between October 1, 2000 and September 30, 2001; - were age 15 years or older at the time of landing; - landed from abroad, must have applied through a Canadian Mission Abroad. The Longitudinal Survey of Immigrants to Canada (LSIC) population of interest is immigrants in the target population who are still living in Canada at the time of the interview
