Description  Administrative health data consists of demographic, clinical, administrative, and service-specific data elements for hospital-based and community-based ambulatory care information, which includes emergency departments (ED). The data includes information on wait time, triage level, assessment, intervention codes, payment provider, disposition date and time etc. NACRS offers 3 options for submitting ED records: Level 1 (includes mandatory data elements required for ED Wait Time indicators), Level 2 (includes Level 1 information plus mandatory completion of either the Presenting Complaint or ED Discharge Diagnosis data element), and Level 3 (includes Level 2 information plus mandatory capture of diagnoses and interventions using ICD-10-CA and CCI). In Saskatchewan, NACRS contains Level 3 data. Regina and Saskatoon started reporting at level 3 in 2021-22. However, they recorded full diagnosis codes in earlier years except for Saskatoon in 2010-11. These data are submitted to CIHI directly from participating facilities after which they are returned to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health. Data is reported from 54 facilities in Saskatchewan as of 2021-22. Participation in NACRS did not start simultaneously at all sites or for all types of visit functional centres. Jurisdiction-specific instructions for the collection of data elements evolve over time. Collection of each data element may be mandatory, mandatory if applicable, optional or not applicable. Data includes only residents of Saskatchewan but includes services provided out-of-province.
